The origin of Fennel
Fennel grows wild in most parts of temperate Europe, but is generally considered indigenous to the shores of the Mediterranean. The history of Fennel use dates back to ancient times when Roman warriors
were said to have consumed Fennel to make them strong and ready for battle. Fennel was also used by the ancient Egyptians as a food and medicine, and was considered a snake bite remedy in ancient China.
During the Middle Ages it was hung over doorways to drive away evil spirits.
