So many commercial mayos have added sugar and oils we are trying to avoid. Oils such as soybean oil, canola oil, even olive oil and other veggie or plant based oils quickly oxidize and turn rancid creating free radical damage in the body. The danger is we don’t have any way of telling when these oils have gone rancid as they don’t taste or smell bad even when this has happened. By avoiding the oils all together, we can avoid this significant health risk.
Even avocado oil carries this risk as it is made from the fruit of the avocado and we know how quickly they start to oxidize (turn brown). But if you are in a pinch a full fat all avocado mayo is your best commercial option.
The recipe below is oil free.

1/4 cup FULL FAT sour cream (love the Daisy brand)
1/2 tbsp high quality MCT oil (love the Sports Research brand)
1/2 tsp red wine vinegar
1 tsp keto sweetener of choice
1/8 tsp sea salt (to taste if using Wakaya sea salt)
Mix all ingredients together and refrigerate in an airtight container. This recipe lasts as long as sour cream usually keeps.
This recipe has about 1g carbs and 17 grams of fat and 1.5g protein for the entire recipe.
Thank you Wanda Koehn for this yummy recipe!!
