Oatmeal is an easy, yummy, and super convenient quick food. Not so fast though as oats have a dark side.
1) Oats are often processed in a way that makes them highly susceptible to gluten cross contamination. So if you are not gluten sensitive this can be a big issue. Also, the protein in oats is so similar to gluten that once you are gluten intolerant, your body may respond in a similar way to oats.
2) All oats and oatmeal are high carb — a big no-no for the ketogenic lifestyle and if you want to maintain those healthy blood sugar levels.
3) Recent reports are finding that while glyphosate (the active ingredient in Roundup) may not be used directly on oats, (again due to cross contamination) we are seeing more and more oats that are now contaminated with these health destroying chemicals.

But I buy organic oats! — all the problems from #1 and #2 above still exist, thus making oats just not a good choice for you.
That’s the bad news. Now for the good news:) Natural Health Expert in detox, fasting, and the ketogenic diet Dr. Pompa has put together a wonderful oat free “oatmeal” that is delicious and keto!!
This recipe serves about 4.
